CLA’s Sage Intacct Spark #3: The Secret System Reporting Periods

Did you know there’s a set of system reporting periods probably hiding right in front of your eyes? Yes, a secret garden of reporting periods.

The “secret” reporting periods:

What do you use them for?

Inception to Date and Inception to Current Month, in particular, allow you to report on everything in the system since the dawn of time, or more precisely, all history and live transactions recorded in the company. That means if you have a grant or project report that doesn’t correspond to your fiscal year or a calendar year, you can still show all activity on that report with this reporting period.

How do I find and activate them? New User Interface:

  1. Go To: Reports > Setup tab > System Reporting Periods (bottom right selection under More)
  2. Check the Include Inactive checkbox (top left – highlighted above)
  3. Click on the Status column to sort the inactive reporting periods to the top of your list
  4. Click Activate (far right) on each reporting period you would like start using

What about in the Old User Interface:

  1. Go To: Company > System Reporting Periods (bottom left of the menu)
  2. Check the Include Inactive checkbox (top left – highlighted above)
  3. Click on the Status column to sort the inactive reporting periods to the top of your list
  4. Click Activate (far right) on each reporting period you would like start using
