Estate Tax Planning Seminars

I am doing a four-hour seminar this summer on estate tax planning for various CPA societies. This seminar will review the current estate tax planning options and then do a more thorough review of one option that may be of interest to farmers – a SLAT. We have blogged before on Spousal Limited Access Trusts, but this seminar will review how a SLAT works, why it can help save on estate taxes and other provisions that can be included with the SLAT to help achieve other goals of the farmer.

Most of the seminars are virtual but there is one in person so far. Here is a current list of the seminars:

August 4, 2022 Washington Society of CPAs Kennewick, WA
August 23, 2022 Minnesota/Iowa Society Ag Conference Virtual
August 24, 2022 South Dakota Society of CPAs Virtual
September 21, 2022 Nebraska Society of CPAs Virtual
November 16, 2022 Arkansas Society of CPAs Virtual

On a personal note, I was tied up last week getting my second son married in Denver. The wedding was great but a little stressful for everyone but it went off without a hitch. We now have two sons married and two sons to go.

I will also be doing a fair amount of travel between now and August 31. Based on my current calendar I will be home a total of three days. I do have one week of vacation with my wife and her siblings in August but the rest of the time is on the road for meetings with clients, speaking engagements and other related work.

It may be a little hectic but will try to keep up the blog posts while on the road.

It is good that my wife has 11 goats, 10 chickens, 4 labs and 3 cats to keep her occupied while I am gone plus 75 meat chickens showing up early next month.
