Driver Pay Continues to Soar

Demand for truck capacity remains high and critical to the overall efficiency to the supply chain, yet the shortage of qualified drivers remains.

In an attempt to promote hiring and retention and combat this issue, a major trucking company in the US just released the most significant pay increases in company history for their drivers which will be effective February 2022. KLLM Transport Services is increasing driver pay as much as 33% for it’s over the road drivers, with increases for regional and local company drivers and independent contractors of 10-16%.

It will be interesting to see how other carriers will receive this, and what they’ll choose to implement for their companies. Focusing on development of new drivers is key, and thankfully these increased premiums to attract and retain drivers have been able to be passed on to the companies customers through price increases simply because of the dire need for capacity.
