Cross-Border COVID-19 Requirements

While there has been a lot of buzz and concern around supply chains and inflation the last few months, Canada and the United States have entered into a vaccine mandate in order to cross the border. Canada’s vaccine mandate to enter the country went into effect Saturday January 15th, while the United States vaccine mandate will go into effect Saturday January 22nd. Drivers will have to show proof of vaccination to enter either border.

The Canadian Government is requiring drivers to download and use the ArriveCAN app to enter into Canada.

The American Trucking Association has estimated that only 50-60% of US truck drivers are vaccinated. While not all drivers cross the border, the vaccine mandates are expected to disrupt freight traveling both directions. Some large Canadian carriers have reported they have lost up to 10% of their capacity due to drivers opting out of vaccine mandate.
