Washington State Sales and Use Tax Exemption Update

Washington State Sales and Use Tax Exemptions Update

For our Washington state readers, effective June 12, 2014, eligible farmers will no longer have to apply to the Department of Revenue and the Department of Revenue will no longer issue exemption certificates for repair parts and services for farm machinery and equipment. Instead, qualifying farmers must provide a completed Farmers’ Certificate for Wholesale Purchases and Sales Tax Exemptions to their vendors to obtain the exemption on qualifying purchases. This certificate can be found on the Department of Revenue website at dor.wa.gov or by calling 1-800-647-7706.

The full special notice from the Department of Revenue can be found here.

The Certificate can be found online here.

Special thanks to David Enquist of our Moses Lake office for this post.
