Estimated Wheat ARC-CO for PNW Counties

I spoke at the Spokane Farm Forum yesterday on the choices between ARC-CO and PLC and thought I would update estimated net payments for wheat ARC-CO for some of the counties located in the Pacific Northwest.  Based on actual state data, Washington, Oregon and Idaho are estimated to have the largest wheat ARC-CO payments for the 2014 crop year and we do have some NASS data available that can help us break down the estimated payment by county.

However, this data is not totally in the format that FSA will use to calculate final county yield data, but it should be fairly close and in many cases, the yields by county are so low, it does not matter what the final yield will be.

Here are my estimates of net payment per wheat base acre for certain counties (total payment times 85%):

Washington

Adams – $34

Lincoln – $35

Walla Walla – $45

Whitman – $42

Oregon

Marion – Zero

Umatilla – $17

Idaho

Latah – $7

As you can see, Washington state counties will likely have the highest payments.  Certain counties in these three states will have no payments due to either a fair amount of irrigated ground or the weather was not as bad as it was in other counties.  Again, these are estimates and final numbers may be different, but this should give wheat farmers in these states an idea as to how their payments may turn out.

If you are a grower in these states and your county is not listed, send me an email to paul.neiffer@claconnect.com and I will send you an estimate of your county payment.  Many counties are not listed separately and are combined, therefore, your county data may not be available.
