A Podcast with Former U.S. Rep Collin Peterson

I was able to do a podcast with former U.S. Representative Collin Peterson last week.  Mr. Peterson was raised on a farm in NW Minnesota and started out farming but switched to being a CPA with his own firm.

He then got started in politics and found out that he could not be a full-time CPA and a politician and switched to politics full-time.

He spent most of his career in Congress on the House Ag Committee and was chair of the committee from 2007-2010 and 2019-2020.  In all, he spent 30 years in Congress.

In our discussion we cover his career plus go over some of the issues that Congress is dealing with currently regarding tax increases, step-up in basis and the transfer tax.  We also review how Congress may fix an issue with the fourth quarter Employee Retention Credit if the infrastructure bill is passed as is.

I think you will enjoy the podcast and if you have not signed up for the Farm CPA podcast it is available on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

If you link to the podcast at Agweb.com please note that the actual podcast is at the bottom of the article.  I can’t believe I have already done 27 podcasts so far.
