Increase in Cyber Attacks on K-12 Schools in Remote Environment

The increase in cyber attacks is another of the many challenges that K-12 schools are facing as a resulting of an increase in remote learning due to COVID19. Some of the attacks faced by the schools includes an increase in ransomware attack, malware, distributed denial-of-service attacks, video conference disruptions, and other risk and vulnerabilities.  

Financial resources continue to be one of the main hinderance as schools weigh the decisions of investing in cybersecurity. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) have issued a joint article that describes these attacks and also provides practical mitigations you can take to reduce your risk.
